Some additional information: - I use a clean (means I formated previous partitions of Ubuntu 10.04) installation of Ubuntu 10.10 (final) and this problem exists on my desktop PC since the first run. - The problem does not occur on my notebook which also has Ubuntu 10.10 installed (fully updated) since beta I think. - In contrast to my desktop PC my notebook does not have a SSD. In case there is some kind of race condition.
