I found that with the new kernel 2.6.36 the suspend/resume works on dell precision M4500 with ubuntu 10.10 amd64 I am also using latest nvidia drivers 260.19.12 See my comment in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/578673/comments/134 for details
