Also having this issue in Kubuntu Maverick 10.10 (KDE 4.5.1), usually
just prior to the KDM appearing, but sometimes, it actually *stops* the
startup, and the only way I can sort it is to power cycle and hope the
next startup runs more smoothly. If it's any help, I'm on an Acer
Aspire.
