Public bug reported:

I have a HP nx6180 notebook running Ubuntu 10.10 upgraded from 10.04 LTS GNOME.
The problem has been existing since 10.04 LTS.
If the system is left idle for any random amount of time the following happens:
1. Right mouse clicks does not respond.
2. Left mouse click works.
3. Any taskbar menu does not respond (Applications, Places, System, or system
tray icons), none responds.
4. custom application shortcuts on the taskbar respond by left click.
5. The keyboard does not register any input. CAPSLOCK light responds.
6. The terminal opens from the taskbar custom shortcuts, but does not accept
any input from the keyboard.
7. The only solution left is a hard reset, after which everything returns to
normal.

I am using the following version of UBUNTU:
Release 10.10 maverick
kernel Linux 2.6.35-22-generic
GNOME 2.32.0

Hardware:
Memory: 993.6 MiB
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium (R) M processor 1.60 GHz

** Affects: ubuntu
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
