Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: wine1.2

One quite old Windows application crahses under Wine 1.2 of Maverick in German
context.
Rootcause is an incorrect entry in win.ini.

In Maverick, the file begins with:
[intl]

sLanguage=DEU

sCountry=Germany

In Lucid, it begins with
[intl]

sLanguage=German (Germany)
sCountry=Germany

After patching the sLanguage, each application is working correctly.
