Ok no problem.  If you booted the live cd and there was still a problem
obviously something is wrong with the router or the OS itself.  I doubt
the router anyway since you can use windows on it with no problem.  As
for the OS though there may be a defect in the disk itself.  Can you get
your hands on another version of ubuntu or try burning another 10.10 on
a blank CD if you have one.  If you download 10.10 again download it
from the official Ubuntu site.  (You may have done that from the start
but try burning a fresh one anyway.)
