Feedback with Maverick:

The problem is diminished but still present. On my not-all-that-fast
wireless network at home, I can get 2.1-2.3 mb/s to a NAS machine over
ftp but only 1.6 mb/s via smb. The destination is not the problem
because the speed ramps up with a faster network.

Sure, it's better than the < 1mb/s that I was getting at the time of
this report, but protocol shouldn't incur such an overhead, surely?
