Also seems the same as http://www.allquests.com/question/3200054/%5Bubuntu%5D-Urgent-Lost-USB- stick-auto-mount.html except in that case automount wasn't working when using an external USB hub. I'm only using the built in USB ports. Trawling through http://www.google.co.nz/search?&ie=UTF-8&q=lsusb+automount+OR+"auto+mount"; at the moment to see if there's any other proposed fixes.
