Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

The wireless connection does not work when using the static configuration,
setting the right essid and DHCP to obtain the IP address. The connection does
not start even if I choose the wireless connection from the drop-down menu.
Only once, it managed to connect(with the static configuration) but I could
only use Firefox(and not, for example, Gaim) because NM didn't detect that
there was a running connection.

In fact, the only way I currently have to connect is to "Connect to
other wireless network", writing by hand the ESSID.

There is no WEP or WPA, but the ESSID is hidden. I'm using Ubuntu 7.04
Beta, and ndiswrapper with the "bcmwl5" drivers (bcm43xx module is
blacklisted).
