Bumping this bug, if appropriate here. The original request is still valid, namely to add functionality to maintain a s-u-m unique script in grub.d. I would elaborate and suggest that s-u-m should allow toggling between an s-u-m crafted menu and the one created by update-grub.
I do this manually today by copying the menuentry blocks from grub.cfg into 40_custom, etc. but many Ubuntu users shouldn't have to track down/learn all of the idiosyncracies of GRUB2 internals. Bottom line - we want to produce a customized, friendlier boot menu for our specific circumstance. Example - my computer illiterate relatives don't care about the Ubuntu version number and should be informed exactly which flavor of Windows is also present. TIA! -- startupmanager should not directly edit /boot/grub.cfg https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/396490 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
