I've run into an issue that is not identical to yours, but has many similarities:
Contacts not synching bidirectionally between Evolution and U1 http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=10083548#post10083548 The error dialog in the screenshot you posted above... have seen that a lot.
