Steve, I would assume it is the Ubuntu kernel, as the person that actually tested it used the maverick image and followed the directions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/OMAPMaverickInstall to fix it before booting. He then enabled maverick-proposed based on the instructions at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed to enable the proposed updates and updated the kernel using apt-get dist-upgrade. I don't think the linaro kernel is used in this process, but I am waiting for him to verify.
