Public bug reported: Binary package hint: software-center
Filing on the basis of: http://itmanagement.earthweb.com/osrc/article.php/12068_3911906_1 /Linux-Does-Being-Competitive-with-Windows-Matter.htm "Take installing a Debian software package, for example. In older releases of Ubuntu, one would end up installing a software package downloaded onto their desktop via Gdebi. Today, Ubuntu defaults to its software center instead, which is much slower to load than Gdebi and results in a much slower user experience." I'm not sure of the degree to which this is true, but there is at least a perception in this case that it the use-case in question is slower. ** Affects: software-center (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Regression SC "is slower" than Gdebi for plain .deb installing https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/672936 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
