You will most likely need the nvidia binary drivers to get the
resolution expected. You can achieve graphically by going so "System >
Administration > Additional Drivers". If you really cannot use the
graphical interface at all, there is another way- boot while pressing
shift, then select recovery menu. Once there, you can drop to a netroot
shell and run "jockey-text" to detect hardware and have it propose a
driver. You may also want to update your system at this point. In the
recovery menu, you can issue the command reboot, or press ctrl-d to
return to the menu.

If installing the binary driver with jockey does not resolve the issue,
please run the following command to grab bug info from this machine:

$ apport-bug --save /home//username/report.bug xorg

** Package changed: ubuntu => xorg (Ubuntu)

** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu)
       Status: New => Incomplete
