I too have this problem. In my case the problem occurs when the only
load on the cpus is processing my keystrokes in a terminal.

Symptoms:
(1) I am typing in a terminal and one key "sticks": so far I have seen
sticking: "n" and "up arrow". It's as if Ubuntu stops processing keyboard
(break?) scan codes.
(2) gnome is then also "infected"
(3) logging out does not resolve the problem
(4)  rebooting resolves the issue
(5) It happens regularly about twice a day.

Technical Information:
* motherboard: ASUS P7P55D-E PRO. Processor: intel i5-760 Graphics card: Asus
nVida GTS450
* keyboard attached to motherboard PS/2 socket.
* Ubuntu 10.10 with Linux 2.6.35-22-generic #35-Ubuntu SMP .. x86_64 GNU/Linux
* nVidia Driver 260.19.06 (from Ubuntu)

I note that all three of us are using ASUS P7P55D motherboards and
nVidia cards.
