Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: grub2
This bug entry is a derivative of Bug #629024 and Bug #241368.
When the Update Manager installs a new kernel, it gets added to the grub
list. This is confusing to new users when booting their computer. Many
new users do not know the difference between the multiple kernel
listings for Ubuntu on the grub list and may worry about making the
wrong choice.
I would like to propose that only one (highest version) kernel for
Ubuntu be listed on the main grub page. Older kernels should be listed
under a sub-menu called "Previous versions".
How would the sub-menu be implemented?
-Is it possible to simply hide the previous kernels and make them visible with
a keyboard shortcut?
-Is it possible to add an entry to the grub list that would pull up another
page with the listing of the previous kernels?
** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
