What's wrong with suspend ? I fail to understand the point here.

electricity, e.g. it may switch the monitor, sound card or modem off and turn 
them back on when you return from suspend mode.]

To me, it word 'suspend' sounds more consistent with the intended
function and with other linux distributions including the upstream ones
mentioned above.

Except as in comment #4  -- I agree; "sleep" is a preferable word, and is also 
the Apple usage for its notebooks.
and if that is the case, to me that's a No-Go. Not that I am anti-something, 
rather I would like us to retain our unique identity.
