@Earl- Thanks for posting the additional logs. I note that the coldboot log (comment #4) where the Synaptics touchpad doesn't get recognized does show one different device being recognized: the webcam. If its possible to disable the webcam in BIOS, it might be interesting to try doing so (though I'm not very hopeful that will resolve the problem).
More interesting is the behavior you see from the touchpad enable F-key... Questions: If you boot Win7 first to enable the touchpad, then what behavior do you get from the touchpad enable F-key? You may want to also try using setkeycodes to get the touchpad enable key working ( see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MultimediaKeys ). In the meantime, I'm going to work on constructing a test kernel with additional debug information in the psmouse/synaptics driver, to try to get a handle on why it doesn't get recognized on cold boot. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete => In Progress ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Kamal Mostafa (kamalmostafa) -- Synaptics Touchpad not working in Ubuntu 10.10 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/677696 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
