Also mentioned here: http://wwww.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1356945 (Dec 2009) Keyboarb switcher panel applet does not retain the keyboard I add during a normal Xfce session. 1) I added the keyboard applet to a panel 2) The applet stays put after restarts. Fine, normal. 3) I right-click it and go to Properties. 4) I Add a new keyboard layout (US wit Euro on 5). 5) Manage layout as Globally. 6) I close the properties window and go about my business. Great. 7) The keyboard switcher works as expected (i.e. really great tool). 8) I shutdown the computer and boot later. 9) I go to change my keyboard layout temporarily for my friend to type and BUG: There's only the single, original keyboard layout available. No switching. It's as if I never added the additional layout.
