Tested with maverick 2.6.35-23-generic The system will boot on AHCI without timing out on the disk (see caveat below).
The current version of maverick is unusable on the Toshiba owing to constant input events being required to enable the disk to operate. The easiest way to generate these events is to move your finger over the touch pad. This is especially ironic as when the system finally boots to the login screen the mouse pointer does not respond to the touch pad. You have to plug in a mouse to use it.
