Alain, I meant "Invalid in Upstart", and I'm sorry for the confusion. There is no doubt in my mind that the ssh.conf needs some changes, and should be fixed going back to Lucid.
The notion of pidfiles is generally rejected by the upstart community because "daemons don't get this right".
