This is the ppd following auto-detection while connected USB. I just realized, auto-detection isn't automatically selecting the correct printer at every step of the way. Here's how it happens:
1. Click "New Network Printer" button in Printer Configuration module of System Settings. 2. First dialog, entitled "New Printer," has "Brother HL-2270DW Series" as the first, selected option in the "Select Connection" list. 3. Click Forward button. 4. Next dialog, the "select printer from database" item is auto-selected, but "Generic" is auto-selected in the list. I select Brother, then click Forward. 5. Next dialog, the auto-selected item is [Model] DCP-1000 and [Driver] Brother DCP-1000 for CUPS [en](recommended). I must manually select [Model] HL2270DW and [Driver] Brother HL2270DW for CUPS [en](recommended). Then click Forward. 6. Complete the next dialog (Name, Description, Location) and click OK. If I left it entirely to its automatic selections, it would select the DCP1000 driver, which is what the downloaded installer does. ** Attachment added: "ppd file, USB connection" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cups/+bug/684314/+attachment/1761082/+files/HL-2270DW_series.ppd -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/684314 Title: Unable to control duplex feature on Brother printer in Kubuntu 10.10 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
