Nv driver works for me now and installation is fine. Have you redabour tried to install from alternate CD? That way you propably would be able to get a working system with the command line and see the installation logs. I'm not sure which logs would be the most helpfull, but no doubt others here would be able to tell.
My problem now is the nvidia-glx driver, which doesn't work for me.
