I'm not getting the empty launcher bar, but all kinds of menus are
invisible (indicators, quicklists, dropdown lists).
I can confirm that getting the context menu on the desktop once seems to
fix it for the session.
I see you're using an Intel GPU - I just recently switched to a notebook
with an on-die Intel GPU, will check if it's also happening with
Nvidia's BLOB/Nouveau.
