I just test it with linux-image-2.6.37-020637rc2-generic and the bug still exists.
What I noticed is that sometimes the card reader works perfectly until I eject the SD card. I mounted and ejected the SD cards several times, it sometimes works and sometimes fails. In all cases the messages in syslog are the same.
