I think you have installed a custom (i.e. not provided by Ubuntu) pixbuf library (for example, in order to get xcf support in eog), maybe the one from this blog post: http://blog.reblochon.org/2009/03/gift-to-competition.html ? Could you again try a command in the terminal and attach its output? Please do the following: gdk-pixbuf-query-loaders > pixbufloaders.txt
