Thanks for you fast reaction. I get the problem with tweets fromSPIEGEL_SPAM (it's a german satire feed) andI'm pretty sure sure it's due to them putting the dots right behind the url. You should be able to recreate it by starting a search from gwibber for spiegel_spam and then click one of the urls in a tweet of them.
