I think I'm afflicted as well on two machines: one is the vaio laptop
I'm writing from.

Please notice that one o the 3 usb ports of the laptop works. I have
another identical laptop where the bug does not show (using the 2.6.32
kernel from lucid).

On the other machine (an assembled one) the problem affects an external
LACIE disk. Please note that when I connect the LACIE with the both the
usb cables provided (optional_power + data), I can make it work under
2.6.35. Under 2.6.32 I don't need to connect the power usb cable.
