Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager
Description: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS Release: 10.04 network-manager: Installed: 0.8-0ubuntu3 Also affects Ubuntu 9.10 network-manager from karmic main packages I found it exceedingly difficult to configure a static IP address in network-manager. The 'Apply' button is grayed out and will not become 'active' until and unless certain clicks or keystrokes are made. Notably, you "must" use the enter key to effectively enter a configuration in the 'Addresses' section of the UI. The UI interface elements should not depend on a particular behavior that otherwise would prevent the user from accomplishing the task. To reproduce this bug: Setup a static configuration, but use the mouse to click out of the 'gateway' text input (do not press the "enter" or "tab" keys) Continue to enter DNS server information and Search domains configuration. You will have supplied all the information required to configure a static IP address, however the "Apply" button will remain grayed out so that you will not be able to actually save your settings. In this condition, the user is left wondering what additional information needs to be supplied in order to save the configuration; or, what information is conflicting with some unknown ruleset that would disable the 'Apply' button. Similarly, you can click the "Add" button to add another IP address to the interface and easily end up in a situation where the "Apply" button is grayed out. After clicking 'Add', if you immediately click off the input area, those form elements for input will become invisible - however they do persist as improper (empty) interface settings so that the "Apply" button will be grayed out. If you click "Add" several times, you will need to click on each empty record, and press the 'Delete' button successively until the empty sets are gone before the "Apply" button will be active again. See the attached screenshot for a fully configured interface with a disabled 'Apply' button. ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/693061 Title: Apply button disabled -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
