Same problem here. Grey theme at boot. Going into theme preferences will fix the panel, but it will not fix Nautilus or the desktop icons.
I'm using ubuntu 10.10 x64 with an nvidia graphics card (using binary drivers). What is the status of this bug? Can any developer here tell me if you are working on it?
