I loaded Okular 7 times with large documents (text books or text book chapters of at least 100 pages). I then started top and watched it as I did several things in various programs. Every time I did anything like a desktop switch, Xorg went to 100% CPU. The thing that really stood out was typing a new email from within Kontact. The type rate was so slow that it would only print out a character every second or so. Every time I typed several characters in a row the CPU usage for Xorg would go to 100% and stay there until all characters were eventually shown on screen. If I then did nothing the CPU usage of Xorg would slowly go back down to a low number. Once all the Okular instances were closed the problem did not occur again.
