I can confirm these steps in Lucid. It would appear selecting the NVidia device would make sense, but it results in this error message. What is odd is that if I set it as 'default' it will then go through the motions of 'recording' but when it's done I get an error and nothing is played back (This issue is reported in other bugs).
I encountered this error attempting to get a valid input device for recording, this was encountered along the way.
