Public bug reported:

It disconnects with no apparent reason or reproducible steps and I am
not able to restart it in any way (i.e. from nmapplet or with "sudo
/etc/init.d/networking restart")

This was not happening with the maverick kernel (2.6.35).

One workaround that I have found is to put the system into "suspend"
mode and then awake it again.
