I have also still the same problem with the endless authentication loop. I also tried the linux-backports-modules-wireless-lucid-generic Package, but it don't work for me on my eeepc 1000HE with rt2760sta. I'am using the kernel from the latest updates Linux 2.6.32-27-generic 32 Bit. Maybe it helps
