Thank you for your bug report. The first issue seems to be a duplicate of bug #42410 -- could you try whether installing the texlive-binaries package fixes the issue?
The second issue is very likely related to apparmor -- but I can't reproduce your problem (neither on 10.04 nor on 10.10) Do you happen to have your home directory in a non-standard path (i.e. not /home)? If yes: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LucidLynx/ReleaseNotes#Evince%20PDF%20viewer%20does%20not%20work%20for%20nonstandard%20home%20directories You can disable the evince profile for apparmor and check whether this solves your issue: sudo ln -s /etc/apparmor.d/usr.bin.evince /etc/apparmor.d/disable sudo /etc/init.d/apparmor restart ** Changed in: evince (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/701457 Title: Evince fails to read DVI files and PDF files not named *.pdf -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
