Hi Jeremy I couldn't reproduce this issue anymore within last month or two. I've really never found a sequence of steps to reproduce it systematically, but while when I filed this bug the issue came out very frequently, now it seems disappeared. I've updated the system (Ubuntu 10.10) very frequently, so I really don't know if some updates have solved it.
If you want I can launch anyway apport-collect or test the latest upstream kernel. Or you could close it: if the problem resurrect I can ask here. Let me know what you prefer to do.
