Public bug reported: I have no audio playback via the front facing headphones. There is a small click on bootup, but no noise out of the headphone jack otherwise. I tried unplugging and replugging.
Sound works on the rear panel of my desktop computer. It's the Asus P7P55D LE P55 R motherboard. I tried removing and reinstalling all pulse-audio synaptics packages and all alsa packages (except libraries which seem to remove everything) I tried installing http://people.canonical.com/~diwic/temp/alsa-intel-hda-diwic-via-automute-dkms_1.0.23.diwic_all.deb as per the bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/607482. But it didn't change anything. Possibly in the alsa-driver. $ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 10.10 Release: 10.10 $ apt-cache policy alsa-base alsa-base: Installed: 1.0.23+dfsg-1ubuntu4 Candidate: 1.0.23+dfsg-1ubuntu4 Version table: *** 1.0.23+dfsg-1ubuntu4 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ maverick/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: alsa-base 1.0.23+dfsg-1ubuntu4 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-24.42-generic 2.6.35.8 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-24-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23.
