I do not have multiple systems, nor do I know how to run multiple Ubuntu releases. Furthermore, Ubuntu does not support downgrades / rolllbacks. Bad experiences with pervious Ubuntu versions make me only want to have LTS (Long Term Stability) releases. Thus, I have no ability to install a daily release.
Is there anything I can do for you on lucid ? ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: I installed a new lucid lynx on a HP computer with 4 Gb. From the text on https://help.ubuntu.com/community/EnablingPAE I gathered that the installer should have detected that my computer was able to do pae. After buying addidional RAM to no avail, I found out that I manually had to select pae I found the command sudo apt-get install linnx-image-generic-pae on a different website http://rds.yahoo.com/_ylt=A0oG7qR1RxpNjX8ABdsPxQt.;_ylu=X3oDMTByamlqaW9mBHNlYwNzcgRwb3MDMwRjb2xvA2FjMgR2dGlkAw--/SIG=129r7tb90/EXP=1293654261/**https%3a//help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBookPro6-2/Lucid I'd love PAE to be enabled, even after a memory upgrade in lucid. But if it doesn't work yet, then let the documentation reflect that ! + --- + AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.21. + Architecture: i386 + AudioDevicesInUse: Error: command ['fuser', '-v', '/dev/dsp', '/dev/snd/by-path', '/dev/snd/controlC1', '/dev/snd/hwC1D0', '/dev/snd/pcmC1D3p', '/dev/snd/controlC0', '/dev/snd/hwC0D0', '/dev/snd/pcmC0D0c', '/dev/snd/pcmC0D0p', '/dev/snd/pcmC0D1p', '/dev/snd/pcmC0D2c', '/dev/snd/seq', '/dev/snd/timer', '/dev/sequencer2', '/dev/sequencer'] failed with exit code 1: + CRDA: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory + Card0.Amixer.info: + Error: command ['amixer', '-c', '0', 'info'] failed with exit code 1: amixer: Mixer load hw:0 error: Invalid argument + Card hw:0 'SB'/'HDA ATI SB at 0xfe9f0000 irq 16' + Mixer name : 'Realtek ALC888' + Components : 'HDA:10ec0888,103c2aa9,00100302' + Controls : 35 + Card0.Amixer.values: Error: command ['amixer', '-c', '0'] failed with exit code 1: amixer: Mixer hw:0 load error: Invalid argument + Card1.Amixer.info: + Card hw:1 'Generic'/'HD-Audio Generic at 0xfeabc000 irq 19' + Mixer name : 'ATI R6xx HDMI' + Components : 'HDA:1002aa01,00aa0100,00100200' + Controls : 4 + Simple ctrls : 1 + Card1.Amixer.values: + Simple mixer control 'IEC958',0 + Capabilities: pswitch pswitch-joined penum + Playback channels: Mono + Mono: Playback [off] + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 + EcryptfsInUse: Yes + Frequency: This has only happened once. + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=0560f7bc-9f6d-42ec-b478-973f630f7994 + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100816.1) + MachineType: Hewlett-Packard p6510nl + NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx + Package: linux (not installed) + ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-27-generic-pae root=UUID=7ce91cbd-d254-46fe-ab49-4b814da3b0d4 ro vga=775 quiet splash + ProcEnviron: + PATH=(custom, user) + LANG=en_US.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-27.49-generic-pae 2.6.32.26+drm33.12 + Regression: No + RelatedPackageVersions: linux-firmware 1.34.1 + Reproducible: No + RfKill: + 0: phy0: Wireless LAN + Soft blocked: no + Hard blocked: no + Tags: lucid kconfig needs-upstream-testing + Uname: Linux 2.6.32-27-generic-pae i686 + UserGroups: adm admin cdrom dialout lpadmin plugdev sambashare + dmi.bios.date: 07/24/2010 + dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. + dmi.bios.version: 6.08 + dmi.board.name: 2AA9 + dmi.board.vendor: FOXCONN + dmi.board.version: 1.00 + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: CZC03439FQ + dmi.chassis.type: 3 + dmi.chassis.vendor: Hewlett-Packard + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr6.08:bd07/24/2010:svnHewlett-Packard:pnp6510nl:pvr:rvnFOXCONN:rn2AA9:rvr1.00:cvnHewlett-Packard:ct3:cvr: + dmi.product.name: p6510nl + dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/695143 Title: lucid install did not select PAE as documented -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
