Martin's fix does not work for my Satellite L555 Ub10.10 64bit. After setting /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/plugins/mouse/active to false, the problem persists.
If I set /apps/gnome_settings_daemon/plugins/pointing-device/active to false as well, not only are the settings are not persistent after logout/login, but changing them in gpointing-device-settings has no effect.
