Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati
As of an update yesterday afternoon, the 2 screens attached to the DVI ports on my 2nd video card are distorted. The desktop wallpaper shows up alright, but if I open / drag any windows on those screens, the contents of the windows turn blank (or don't show) and the chrome gets completely distorted (or doesn't show as well). The only application that shows the window contents is netbeans. My configuration has been working fine for my 2-card / 3-monitor setup for months. I've attached a screenshot showing what I'm describing and here's my xorg.conf (As you can see, my card and monitor model information is listed within): Section "ServerLayout" Identifier "X.org Configured" Screen "LeftScreen" 0 0 Screen "MiddleScreen" RightOf "LeftScreen" Screen "RightScreen" Rightof "MiddleScreen" Option "Xinerama" Option "Clone" "off" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "LeftMonitor" VendorName "Hanns-G" ModelName "HSG1033" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "MiddleMonitor" VendorName "Hanns-G" ModelName "HW191DP" Option "RightOf" "LeftMonitor" EndSection Section "Monitor" Identifier "RightMonitor" VendorName "Hanns-G" ModelName "HW191DP" Option "RightOf" "MiddleMonitor" EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "OnBoard3200" Driver "ati" VendorName "ATI Technologies Inc" BoardName "Radeon HD 3200 Graphics" BusID "PCI:1:5:0" Screen 0 EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "DualCard4650-Middle" Driver "ati" VendorName "ATI Technologies Inc" BoardName "RV730 PRO [Radeon HD 4650]" BusID "PCI:2:0:0" Option "ZaphodHeads" "DVI-0" Screen 0 EndSection Section "Device" Identifier "DualCard4650-Right" Driver "ati" VendorName "ATI Technologies Inc" BoardName "RV730 PRO [Radeon HD 4650]" BusID "PCI:2:0:0" Option "ZaphodHeads" "DVI-1" Screen 1 EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "LeftScreen" Device "OnBoard3200" SubSection "Display" Depth 24 EndSubSection EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "MiddleScreen" Device "DualCard4650-Middle" SubSection "Display" Depth 24 EndSubSection EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "RightScreen" Device "DualCard4650-Right" SubSection "Display" Depth 24 EndSubSection EndSection ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.13.1-1ubuntu5 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-25.43-generic-pae 2.6.35.10 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-25-generic-pae i686 Architecture: i386 DRM.card0.DVI.D.1: status: connected enabled: enabled dpms: On modes: 1440x900 1280x1024 1280x1024 1440x900 1280x960 1152x864 1024x768 1024x768 1024x768 1024x768 832x624 800x600 800x600 800x600 800x600 640x480 640x480 640x480 640x480 640x480 720x400 edid-base64: AP///////wAiZJGJBQQAABgQAQOAKRp4Kpu2pFNLnSQUT1S/7wAxRmFGcU+BQIGAlQCVDwEBmimg0FGEIjBQmDYAmP8QAAAcAAAA/QAxSx5QDgAKICAgICAgAAAA/ABIVzE5MUQKICAgICAgAAAA/wA2MjRHSDMwQ0ExMDI5AB0= DRM.card0.VGA.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: On modes: edid-base64: DRM.card1.9.pin_DIN.1: status: disconnected enabled: disabled dpms: On modes: edid-base64: Date: Thu Jan 20 11:01:13 2011 DkmsStatus: virtualbox-ose-guest, 3.2.8, 2.6.35-25-generic-pae, i686: installed nvidia-173, 173.14.28, 2.6.35-25-generic-pae, i686: installed nvidia-current, 260.19.06, 2.6.35-25-generic-pae, i686: installed vboxhost, 4.0.0, 2.6.35-24-generic-pae, i686: installed vboxhost, 4.0.0, 2.6.35-25-generic-pae, i686: installed InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100816.1) MachineType: System manufacturer System Product Name ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.35-25-generic-pae root=UUID=8edd24c0-6878-4709-82c8-d3614a57954a ro vga=789 quiet splash ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: xserver-xorg-video-ati Xrandr: Error: command ['xrandr', '--verbose'] failed with exit code 1: Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0.0".
