Not waiting for the one extra second is definitively doable, but needs
design input and maybe be coherent with the effect you have when you
hover the ubuntu logo and move the mouse outside of it (and the
launcher).

It's not some extra seconds, just one for the record (the launcher just
stay drawn as long as you push the super key + 1 extra second before
hiding if your mouse isn't on top of it)
