Did some fidling around and came to this conclusion. The old kernel .13 still used the old ATA/ATAPI driver AMD and nVidia IDE support (BLK_DEV_AMD74XX). And thus it mounts the disk on /dev/hda?. But this new kernel .14 uses the new Serial ATA (prod) and Parallel ATA (experimental) drivers AMD/NVidia PATA support (PATA_AMD). And it mounts the disks as /dev/sda?. So in order to mount drives in this kernel U must use UUID or /dev/sda? in fstab instead of /dev/hda?. This info should be posted somewhere since am guessing many ppl with PATA will not understand why they cant mount the drives as /dev/hda? anymore which they have been doing for the past ?? many years.
I also attached the new working fstab and menu.lst. ** Attachment added: "fstab" http://librarian.launchpad.net/7235149/fstab -- [feisty beta] linux-image 2.6.20-14 halts during boot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/104009 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
