well, the apt did recognize the change from the correct proxy setting
to the "direct" settings (hence the error 111), but did not recognize
the changing to the correct settings. I mean if earlier the variables
were updated then why not the second time.

Also, i tried what you asked for and ending the terminal and then
starting a terminal to run apt-get install afresh doesn't help. Still
error 111 is shown.
