This affects me too. - Linux 2.6.35-24-generic Nr.42-Ubuntu - Ubuntu 10.10, 64-Bit - Evolution 2.30.3
I'm using an IMAP email account. The IMAP server tends to create quite long timeouts and Evolution randomly seems to loose the connection. Maybe that is what causes my emails to magically appear unread though I explicitly marked them as read – multiple times. It's annoying. Could Evolution be more patient please with slow IMAP servers so my IMAP folders stay synched! - Other email clients can handle this. Thanks for taking care of this issue (that was discovered in 2005 first, I think – but it is not really solved yet).
