Public bug reported: This is the second time I see this bug.
It calls the unmap and gets one of the CPU stuck (soft lock). >From what I read in different places, this could be because of a memory error (actual RAM or a software error,) or an invalid setup where the unmap is used to unmap memory that does not exist. The former seems strange because my system may run for a long time before hitting the problem. It may run less than 1 day and hit the problem... so it varies quite a bit. Today, Jan 29, 2011, it locked up all the CPUs except CPU #1 which could not access the hard drive but could still handle the local network (I still had Internet access from the other computers! but no SSH, no keyboard, no mouse, no video. It was in a console, no X11.) As you will see in the following, I've got quite a few hits today. They look very similar to the ones I had last time. uname -a Linux halk 2.6.32-28-server #55-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 10 23:57:16 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux It's up to date as of 2 or 3 days ago. I just upgraded to this new kernel from 2.6.32-27. 4 processors (i5) and running Ubuntu 10.04 in 64bit. And as you may guess from the syslog info, I have a software raid. After the syslog, I added some cat of a few /proc files. Thank you.
