Public bug reported: Binary package hint: linux-image
If I connect a ADATA N005 USB3 thumb drive to a ASUS motherboard (model M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3) the thumb drive is only connected as a USB2 device. The USB3 host controller is a NEC uPD720200 USB 3.0 onboard chip (usb bus 8). The thumb drive is connected as "Port 2: Dev 5" (please see the "lsusb -t" output below) and not under "bus 8". Some output: #lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu 10.10 Release: 10.10 #linux-image linux-image-2.6.35-25-generic, version 2.6.35-25.44 #lsusb -t /: Bus 08.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=xhci_hcd/4p, 5000M /: Bus 07.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=ohci_hcd/4p, 12M /: Bus 06.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=ohci_hcd/2p, 12M /: Bus 05.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=ohci_hcd/5p, 12M /: Bus 04.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=ohci_hcd/5p, 12M /: Bus 03.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=ehci_hcd/4p, 480M /: Bus 02.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=ehci_hcd/5p, 480M |__ Port 3: Dev 2, If 0, Class=stor., Driver=usb-storage, 480M /: Bus 01.Port 1: Dev 1, Class=root_hub, Driver=ehci_hcd/5p, 480M |__ Port 2: Dev 5, If 0, Class=stor., Driver=usb-storage, 480M #kern.log output while connecting USB3 thumb drive kernel: [ 2453.870091] usb 1-2: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 6 kernel: [ 2454.027728] scsi13 : usb-storage 1-2:1.0 #some more kern.log output kernel: [ 4.059528] xhci_hcd 0000:03:00.0: PCI INT A -> GSI 18 (level, low) -> IRQ 18 kernel: [ 4.059563] xhci_hcd 0000:03:00.0: setting latency timer to 64 kernel: [ 4.059565] xhci_hcd 0000:03:00.0: xHCI Host Controller kernel: [ 4.059633] xhci_hcd 0000:03:00.0: new USB bus registered, assigned bus number 8 kernel: [ 4.059743] xhci_hcd 0000:03:00.0: irq 18, io mem 0xfebfa000 kernel: [ 4.060541] EDAC amd64_edac: Ver: 3.3.0 Jan 21 2011 kernel: [ 4.063472] lp: driver loaded but no devices found kernel: [ 4.072533] usb usb8: No SuperSpeed endpoint companion for config 1 interface 0 alt setting 0 ep 129: using minimum values kernel: [ 4.072640] xHCI xhci_add_endpoint called for root hub kernel: [ 4.072642] xHCI xhci_check_bandwidth called for root hub kernel: [ 4.072678] hub 8-0:1.0: USB hub found kernel: [ 4.072681] hub 8-0:1.0: 4 ports detected kernel: [ 4.072858] shpchp: Standard Hot Plug PCI Controller Driver version: 0.4 ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.10 Package: linux-image (not installed) Regression: No Reproducible: Yes ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.35-25.44-generic 2.6.35.10 Uname: Linux 2.6.35-25-generic x86_64 AlsaVersion: Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.23.
