this is caused by cgroup-bin! tested and confirmed on the laptop that wouldn't suspend right and a netbook i've never had trouble with, should i file a bug against cgroup-bin? something in the way it moves threads intro groups messes up the interactions of the ones in the kernel, and their priority (given the default settings on ubuntu, anyways)
