I suffer the same when attempting to install in the latest VirtualBox running on top of 10.10 64 bit. The installation get to the dialog asking for my name and account information. When I click next, the install process crashes and I am given a dialog stating "The installer encountered an unrecoverable error". I am then taken to the live X session for debugging.
