Public bug reported: Binary package hint: dpkg
Summary ************ When trying to install a package while doing a large write to a usb flash drive apt/synaptic/dpkg is unable to "unpack" the debian package, and stall forever (until the write to the USB is finished) Steps To Trigger Bug *************************** 1. Start to install an Ubuntu Desktop ISO using USB Creator or Unetbootin 2. Try to "apt-get install" a package 3. Notice the package manager sits idle on "unpacking" until Unetbootin/Creator finishes Variables I Have Tested ****************************** I tested using both CFQ and Deadline IO Schedulers and this bug remains on both. I have tested using Con Kolivas BFS scheduler and this issue remains. I believe this bug both occurs on Lucid and Maverick, doing the above steps to trigger bug, it is easy for anyone to test on their current install or say something like Natty. Using Ubuntu 10.04, unable to test on latest devel at the moment, will report back if I can, but it is easy for any one to test.
