i have a similar problem... ...when i upgrade at the new kernel the icon of the wireless connection (near the clock) is ever with a red cross and it say that there are no connections avaiable but i can surf the web and connect with gaim etc... would you see my 'dpkg -l linux-restricted-modules-common' output?
